General Tips and Advice
Over the years we have been asked all sorts of questions, below are a few of the common ones, but feel free to ask us anything.
When the van(s) arrives be there to tell them where you wish things to be put so your move can continue quickly and smoothly.
Before you leave the property make a note of meter readings and then turn off Gas & Electric and lock all your doors and windows.
Point out to the removal operatives which goods are to be packed and moved. This allows them to work out in what order to pack and load your belongings to take best care of fragile item.
Be sure to tell your removal operatives as soon as they arrive if they can use the drive to park their vehicle or if there are any special requirements.
Make sure you have a generous supply of small and large boxes, packaging tape, scissors, markers and labels. We can supply all these from our online shop if you require them.
Clearly mark every single box with which room the box came from and is going to.
Regard moving as an opportunity to get rid of belongings you no longer need. Consider making ”donate” and “sell” piles in each room for things you could do without.
Whilst your children are important, we suggest you arrange for someone to look after them on moving day.
Go through your garage, garden shed, cellars, attics and sort out items you wish to take with you.
Ensure you tell insurers, domestic service providers, council, doctors, family and friends well in advance of your move date.
